Learning More About Your Career Field’s Outlook

Published by got2trotlibrarian at 9:44 am under Uncategorized Edit This

If you want to learn more about the career outlook for a particular industry, then a good place to start is the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s, Occupational Outlook Handbook.  The OOH offers an incredible amount of useful data, such as earnings outlook, working conditions, and required training.  For each profession, there’s also a “Sources of Additional Information” section that lists professional associations related to that particular field.  Professional associations are a great way to get job leads, because they often maintain a job board on their website.  Also, professional associations are a great way to see who the major players in your field of interest are; just check to see which companies are sponsoring the associations conferences.  The Occupational Outlook Handbook has so much to offer; check it out!
